Happy Birthday To Us

Well we are one year old! From very humble beginnings we have developed into a flourishing community garden. It’s unbelievable that we are so established after such a short period of time and we couldn’t have done it without the tremendous dedication of our committee and in particular, our coordinator, Donelle who works tirelessly behind the scenes sourcing funding and attempting to organise the motley crew that is our committee. From all of us we thank you.

The birthday celebrations were small but joyous with cupcakes, Devonshire tea, sausage sizzle, a plant sale, children’s activities coordinated by Bunnings Balcatta, face painting and an afternoon of story telling from the Story Tellers Guild of WA, there was something for everyone. One thing that was fantastic to see was the children playing in the children’s garden. No matter what the age, they all came together and were jumping, exploring, role playing, climbing, the kids were just being kids and it was joyous to watch. Others preferred to relax with a cup of tea or coffee and indulge in a Devonshire tea and watch the world go by.

The afternoon was exactly what the community` garden is all about, people of all ages coming together to be part of a community. Lets hope there are many more wonderful memories to be made in this beautiful garden. If you would like to be a part of the garden please visit our members page and download a form or pop into the garden for our next garden party/busy bee.

Happy Gardening.
